The trick to surviving winter is to get out and enjoy local happenings, so the organizers of the Elora Farmers’ Market (EFM) have created some family fun to draw people in from the cold.
On Feb. 16 the four-legged performers of the Diamonds in the Ruff Dog Agility Club will bring their owners to the market between 10am and noon for some fun in the Paddock Building beside the market.
On Feb. 23 the market’s theme is Maple Syrup from the Ground. Lorne Brubacher, a market vendor who has also served on the Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association board, will talk about the tapping, grading and the nutrients and minerals contained in maple syrup that are not found in any other form or sweetener.
The EFM raised an additional $65 for the Centre Wellington Food Bank from the January soup demonstration, with thanks given to the vendors for providing ingredients and Peter Skoggard for his creative cooking, along with those who gave generously to savour the soup. The winter market is open Saturdays from 9am to 1pm in the Paddock Building at Grand River Raceway, 7445 Wellington County Road 21.
